Neural Power

Take a Test Drive

There are two ways you can see for yourself the quality of NeuralPower forecasts and how easy it is to use NeuralPower components:

Try the demonstration edition of Forecaster.

The demonstration edition of Forecaster can run on almost any standard Windows desktop or laptop computer.

With the demonstration edition, you can view short-term and long-term demand and price forecasts that were created from demonstration data. The single-day sample demand and weather data files in the demonstration package clearly show how data is formatted for use by NeuralPower software.

You can also see how Forecaster maintains performance information to track the quality of forecasts and to permit calculating forecast adjustments.

What you need to try out the demonstration edition:

  • A Windows 2000/XP/Vista computer (2.8+ GHz, 1+ GB RAM) and Administrator privileges to install the software.
  • The computer monitor must support a resolution of at least 1280 x 800 pixels.
  • Java Run-Time 1.6 or later must be installed on the computer (a no-cost, easy to install download from Sun Microsystems is available if it is not already installed).

Run Forecaster with Custom Models based on Your Data – Enroll in the NeuralPower Challenge.

We know that NeuralPower creates superior electricity demand and price forecasts – and if you provide basic historic datasets we'll build models to prove it to you. We'll create both seasonal models (models that are typically intended to be used during a specific 3-month period) and annual models (a set of models that could be used to generate forecasts any time during the current year).

After you receive NeuralPower Forecaster and the models we created, you'll be able to run the models – on your own computer - with daily data that you provide. You'll be able to generate forecasts that provide actionable decision support for operations, trading, or long-term strategic planning. You'll also be able to use NeuralPower Scheduler to set up schedules to generate forecasts automatically, with output placed in files that you can import to other applications.

To use custom models with Forecaster, your computing environment must meet the following requirements:

  • A Windows 2000/XP/Vista computer (2.8+ GHz, 1+ GB RAM) and Administrator privileges to install the software.
  • The computer monitor must support a resolution of at least 1280 x 800 pixels.
  • Java Run-Time 1.6 or later must be installed on the computer (a no-cost, easy to install download from Sun Microsystems is available if it is not already installed).

You will also need to create historic data files that we can use to train forecasting models, and after you receive Forecaster and models, you will need to generate daily data files so that you can run models to produce updated daily forecasts.

NeuralPower software expects input data files to be simple "flat" tab-delimited ASCII files. Historic demand data should be in a single file, and historic weather data should be organized so that data from each available source of weather data is in a separate file. Similarly, daily and very recent demand data should be in one daily file, and each source of daily recent weather and weather forecasts should be in a separate file. We will send you detailed file format specifications, and example files, after you enroll in the NeuralPower Challenge.
